Abstract

The emphasis is placed on the fact that the problem of human trafficking in
the USA remains extremely relevant due to a combination of socio-economic,
demographic and geopolitical factors. The USA is one of the largest countries in
the world with a developed economy, which attracts migrants and seekers of a
better life, a significant part of whom may find themselves in a vulnerable
position. It is this vulnerability that is often used by human traffickers who exploit
victims in the areas of forced labor, sexual exploitation or domestic slavery. The
situation is also complicated by the fact that criminals actively use modern
technologies to recruit and control people, and the scale of illegal migration
creates additional risks.
It is summarized that the USA has quite developed and progressive
mechanisms for combating human trafficking. It is argued that the following
experience of this country is interesting for Ukraine: first, the combination of a
powerful legislative framework with practical mechanisms for supporting victims;
second, the widespread use of the “3P” model (prosecution, protection,
prevention), which allows for complex, multi-layered investigations and the
protection of victims’ rights in the process of criminal prosecution; third, the
presence of a special data collection system, which includes the National Human
Trafficking Hotline; fourth, the active implementation of public-private
partnerships.
