Ensuring legality in the state is a difficult task in today's conditions, the
implementation of which depends on many factors. However, first of all, we are
talking about the clear and balanced work of all subjects of power, including law
enforcement agencies. At the same time, the most careful attention is focused on
the patrol police, since they are always in sight. Outlining a number of tasks and
functions of a specific body, the legislator gives it the opportunity to act in various
ways within the framework of the law to obtain the required result. In the article,
we will focus on the study of only one area of work of the patrol police, which,
unfortunately, does not lose its relevance. This is confirmed by the disappointing
statistical indicators of traffic accidents and the death rate on the roads.
At the same time, the effectiveness and efficiency of ensuring road traffic
safety depends not only on the number of persons brought to justice. A significant
part of the work is aimed precisely at the implementation of the preventive and
educational function, with the help of which the behavior of road users is formed
in society. Thus, the work analyzes the preventive measures used by the police to
ensure road safety. It is noted that such activity is possible thanks to the clear
regulation of police competence in the field of road safety, the absence of
contradictions between legal norms in this field and the adaptation of domestic
legislation to European standards. It was noted that determining the reasons for
committing violations of traffic rules is important for high-quality preventive
activities. Particular attention is paid to the work of the patrol police with minors.
It is considered expedient to introduce separate electives in schools in this
direction, which would allow students not to be limited only to knowledge of the
rights and responsibilities of a pedestrian as one of the participants in road traffic.
