Abstract
The article analyses the grounds for suspension and resumption of criminal
proceedings. Moreover, it establishes that the legal regime of martial law has
significantly influenced the list of grounds for suspension of criminal proceedings.
The article focuses on certain stages of development of the concept and conditions of
suspension of criminal proceedings. Furthermore, the attention is focused that in
practice there are circumstances that often arise when, for objective reasons, it is
impossible to file an indictment, the above-mentioned motions or close criminal
proceedings within the specified time limits. Finally, it is concluded that the concept
and grounds for suspension and resumption of criminal proceedings are subject to
constant changes depending on the needs of society at a particular stage of its
formation.
