PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS APPLICATION IN THE INVESTIGATION OF WAR CRIMES (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE SORC SYSTEM)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Russia's full-scale invasion of the Ukrainian territory and the day-to-day
war crimes committed by the Russian army have become a new challenge for the
law enforcement system, whose activities have changed dramatically. The police
in Kharkiv region were among the first to meet these challenges. A striking
example of this was the creation and operation of the Data Management,
Processing and Analysis System for Investigations (SORC) on the basis of the
Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in
Kharkiv Region. The system's functionality allows to find the necessary
information in the course of war crimes investigations quickly, to process and
upload documents, photos, videos and other materials of war crimes committed
by the Russian army. Today, the SORC system is a real ‘library of war crimes
evidence’ committed by Russian military personnel.
