SEXUAL FREEDOM IN CONDITIONS OF CAPTIVITY OR SEXUAL VIOLENCE AS A WAY OF CONDUCTING THE RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN WAR

Abstract
The article is devoted to a criminological study of sexual violence in the
Russian-Ukrainian war. The author analyses the level of conflict-related sexual
violence since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, focusing on
the high level of latency of this type of crime. The author describes the factors that
determine the presence of sexual violence in the occupation forces of the russian federation, including historical aspects; gender inequality as a component of
modern russian society; motivated hatred of a basic characteristic for a common
group of people, such as race, ethnicity, religion, language, nationality, political
beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc. The general features of combating
sexual violence during armed conflict are outlined. The basic rules of conduct for
potential victims are proposed in tackling this type of crime. The importance of
paying special attention to victims of sexual violence during conflict in the concept
of transitional justice and reparations for this category of persons is emphasised.
