THEORY AND PRACTICE OF ROAD SAFETY IN UKRAINE: CRIMINOLOGICAL VIEW

Abstract

The article is devoted to the disclosure of areas which, according to the results of scientific research, will contribute to a significant reduction of road accidents with severe consequences. These are: changes in the psychology of road users to a common understanding of the need to comply with road safety requirements and improve road culture; arrangement of transport infrastructure with due regard to safety standards; determination of the consequences and assessment of losses from road accidents; improvement of legal liability for illegal actions by road users. The analysis of practice and the results of the survey made it possible to confirm the viability of the highlighted areas.
